That was not my fault. People still throw stones at me and scold me for what I didnt do. I was just made a prey to their actions. That was a very bad day in my life and I feel the sense of guilt in me even though I could not do anything to stop it from happening. I still remember that bright sunny day on 16th October 1799. The clock ticked and he was called up by the sepoys to get ready. He looked upon the soldiers with his intriguing eyes and a calm smile broadened in his face. He stood reluctantly and tried to make up things in his mind on what he has to address to his people. He was brought near me and he looked upon me and the rope in which he is going to be hanged. He turned round and his brave voice broke open the helpless-silence of the people. His last words were " Oh, My people look upon. This is not the end; this is just a beginning and the dawn is very near." Even then it took almost 148 years for this wonderful country to cherish the dawn what he is speaking about. And with those brave words he was hanged to death when his grief-strucken people watched him in absolute silence. Tears rolled down from the eyes of the people and the words 'BRAVO KATTABOMMA!!! of a young chap pierced open the silence of the people. I could not still bear the fact that being a tamarind tree I am useful to people in all the ways I can and they found out one more way to use me!!!The history repeats itself again on 8th April 1857 when Mangal Pandey was hanged at 5.30 P.M. in the presence of all assembled troops in Barrackpore, Calcutta. The only difference is it was a banyan tree.

life is a battlefield - yet
life has to be led,
battlefields change,
Battles, never.
