Television came to our home when I was in 5th standard and my craze knew no bound at that time. There were stricts rules and restrictions from my mother to watch the programmes as she is very much concerned about our studies and the electricity bills. The Doordarshan era I am speaking about is from the year 1992 to 1998. I am going to list the programmes I watched during those years and which is still afresh at the base of my heart.
  • Vande mataram which they telecast it on morning and the DD music. (Its still amazing)
  • Songs like Miley sur mera tumhaara, School chaley hum, etc.
  • The Ramanyana
  • The Mahabaratha
  • Chandrakantha
  • The reporter
  • He-man
  • Potlibaba
  • Shanthi
  • Suraag
  • Dada Dadi ki Kahani
  • Vikram aur vetal
  • Ghutan
  • Mitti ke Rang
  • Alice in wonderland
  • The Jungle Book - Mogli
  • Alif Laila
  • Phateechar
  • Tehkikaat
  • Amaravathi ki kathayen
  • Mrignayanee
  • Mulla Nasruddin
  • Circus
  • Chitrahaar
  • Turning point(Its still telecasted I think)
  • Dekh bhai Dekh
  • Samundar
  • Chanakya
  • Malgudi Days
  • Byomkesh Bakshi(Dnt know the programme and so I have mentioned the character name)
  • The discovery of India
  • Swabhimaan
  • Rangoli and Oliyum oliyum.
  • Viludugal
  • Udal porul aavi-aaaaaaaaaanandhi
  • The street hawk
  • The sword of Tippu Sultan
  • Surabhi
  • Vayalum Vaalvum (I could not miss this :-)
  • Edhiroli.(Its still there but the charm is missing)
  • Some Japanese serial dubbed in Hindi - I dnt remember its name
  • All weekly tamil and hindi cinemas. Cinemas of all Indian lanaguages which they used to telecast on Sundays in alphabetical order.
  • One hour tamil dramas telecasted on every fridays.

I might have missed out some other intersting programmes in tamil and hindi. Today I hardly watch DD whereas my Grandpa still rely on DD for the news. We have hundreds of channels today and it is sad to see that DD lost its charm but has retained its quality still.
